All Terrain UK at The Adventure Overland Show – April 2019

XXXXXX  UPDATE WE ARE NOW BOOKED FOR 2020  XXXXXX

Following a “trial run” at the 2018 show the Steering Committee made a decision to attend the 2019 Adventure Overland show and commenced plans to promote “responsible sustainable and enjoyable green laning” to a wide audience.
Over the winter a series of planning meetings in the local pub, together with numerous chats on messenger resulted in a plan and the acquisition of some improved PR material and a robust gazebo / show marquee. (this turned out to be an excellent choice as the first night and day of the show saw us braving “Storm Hannah” and 50+ mph winds)
The All Terrain UK branding was very prominent (and very Yellow!) which ensured it could be viewed from all parts of the showground.
Friday saw members from all parts of the country arrive at Stratford upon Avon racecourse to set up camp. 14 different vehicles and an eclectic mix of camping accommodation from micro tents, roof tents, caravans, Oz tents set up around the ATUK gazebo and yellow event shelter and promptly turned a 21 metre frontage of the racecourse into a sea of yellow and black ATUK logos!
Throughout the weekend members worked tirelessly to promote the ATUK message from a very professional stand handing out leaflets, talking to existing and potential new members, and Darren our IT specialist doing numerous live demonstrations of “SmartTrail” the ATUK green lanes mapping database solution.
In addition to the club stand we were pleased to be given the opportunity to feature in the high profile show seminar programme with Kirk, Darren and Alan presenting a 1 hour seminar on the Saturday and Sunday of the show – both of which were well supported and helped to “spread the word”.
It wasn’t all work though! The members attending the show, whether camping or as day visitors all had an enjoyable time and it was a great occasion to put faces to names at a central location in the country. The campers amongst us enjoyed plenty of social time around the camp fire /BBQ and of course had to show the rest of the show campers how to party with the excellent live band on the Saturday night.
We would like to give a special mention regarding Veterans in Action [VIA] headed up by Billy Macleod and all the great work they do. We hope to be working together in some way soon so please watch this space.

All in all a successful and very enjoyable weekend, which has already resulted in lots of new members and a huge level of interest in the great work being carried out by the ATUK team.
