Discover New Green Lane Routes Across the UK with AllTerrainUK

March 26, 2025 by Josh Railton

If you’re looking for new green lane routes to explore across the UK, you’re in the right place. At AllTerrainUK, we’ve just released three brand new routes that take in some of the most scenic and rewarding off-road trails in the country — exclusively for our members. Whether you’re a seasoned laner or new to the green laning scene, these routes are packed with variety, views, and that satisfying sense of exploration.

What’s New This Month?

We’ve been out exploring and mapping, and we’re excited to add the following green lane routes to our growing library:

1. Midsomer Norton Loop (South West of Bath)

Starting in Midsomer Norton, this circular route heads south-west of Bath, twisting through a mix of rural lanes, open countryside, and quiet woodland tracks. It’s perfect for a half-day escape, with plenty of variety under-tyre and some beautiful Somerset scenery along the way.

2. Lizard Peninsula Explorer (Cornwall)

This route is one for the bucket list. It covers every legal lane across the Lizard Peninsula — the southernmost point of mainland Britain. Expect a true adventure as you navigate through through-lanes and charming dead-ends that often lead to coastal views, wild clifftops, and tucked-away villages. It’s ideal for those who love to tick off every trail and soak in Cornwall’s rugged charm.

3. West Ammanford & Gwendraeth Valley (Carmarthenshire, Wales)

Heading west of Ammanford into the peaceful Gwendraeth Valley, this route takes you through rolling Welsh hills, farmland, and river views. It features classic Welsh green lanes: narrow, winding, occasionally muddy, and full of character. A great choice for a day out in the heart of Carmarthenshire.

Why Choose Ready-Made Green Lane Routes?

We know the joys — and challenges — of planning a day’s green laning. Our ready-made routes save time and ensure you make the most of your day out. All our routes are:

  • Fully researched and tested
  • GPX file ready
  • Legal and up-to-date
  • Graded for difficulty
  • Built for 4×4 enthusiasts of all levels

They’re available to AllTerrainUK members — not to gatekeep, but to keep our maps accurate, our community strong, and our adventures sustainable.

Got a Region in Mind?

We’re always planning new explorations and would love to hear from you.
Where would you like to see a ready-made green lane route next? Let us know — your feedback helps shape where we go (and map) next!

Ready to Hit the Trails?

If you’re keen to discover new green lane routes, connect with like-minded explorers, and enjoy stress-free planning, our route library is ready when you are.

Until then — keep it muddy, keep it legal, and enjoy the journey.

Discover Green Lanes Near Me: Your Guide to Local Off-Road Adventures

March 12, 2025 by Josh Railton

Looking to explore the countryside and wondering where to find green lanes near me? Whether you’re a seasoned off-roader or just getting started with green laning, knowing where you can legally and responsibly drive is key to keeping the trails open and enjoyable for everyone.

That’s where All Terrain UK comes in. We’re a community of off-road enthusiasts who love adventure, but we also care deeply about protecting our countryside and promoting responsible laning. And with our handy route-planning tool, Smart Trail, finding green lanes near you has never been easier.

What Are Green Lanes?

Green lanes are unsurfaced, often ancient roads that are legally drivable. They run through some of the most stunning and remote parts of the UK, offering a real sense of adventure. But they also require care and respect – for the land, for local residents, and for other countryside users.

How to Find Green Lanes Near Me

Typing “green lanes near me” into a search engine might give you a few options, but it won’t always tell you what’s legal to drive or the condition of the route. That’s where Smart Trail shines.

With Smart Trail, All Terrain UK members get access to:

  • Verified, up-to-date route info
  • Legal trails only – no guesswork
  • Community reviews and trail reports
  • Tools to plan and share your next laning trip

It’s all about keeping it safe, legal, and fun.

Why Use Smart Trail?

There’s nothing worse than turning up at a trailhead only to find it’s closed, impassable, or restricted. Smart Trail takes the uncertainty out of the journey and helps you stay on the right side of the law – and the community.

Plus, when you use Smart Trail, you’re supporting All Terrain UK’s work with councils, landowners, and local groups to promote sustainable access for all.

Join the Adventure

Ready to get out there? Become a member of All Terrain UK and start planning your next off-road trip the smart way. Whether you’re looking for easy scenic routes or something a bit more challenging, Smart Trail will help you find the best green lanes near me.

Let’s protect the trails we love and enjoy them together — responsibly.

Green Laning: The Ultimate Adventure with Friends

March 3, 2025 by Josh Railton

Green Laning isn’t just about exploring the UK’s stunning countryside—it’s about the people you share it with. Whether you’re tackling muddy tracks, rocky climbs, or scenic byways, everything is more fun (and a lot safer) when you’ve got your mates along for the ride.

Off-roading can throw all sorts of surprises your way, from unexpected water crossings to the occasional stuck wheel. That’s where having a solid crew makes all the difference. With friends by your side, every obstacle turns into a team challenge, and every win is a shared victory. Plus, let’s be honest—half the fun is in the banter over the CB radio!

Why Green Laning is Better with Friends

🚙 Teamwork Makes the Dream Work – Whether it’s spotting each other through tricky terrain or giving a helping hand with recovery gear, green laning is all about looking out for one another.

🌍 Stronger Together – When we green lane responsibly as a group, we set a great example, helping protect the trails for future adventurers. Plus, it’s always good to have backup when dealing with unexpected situations.

🔥 Banter & Brews – There’s nothing better than pulling up for a mid-lane pit stop, brewing a cuppa, and swapping stories with your mates before hitting the next trail.

📸 Memories that Last – Whether it’s an epic sunset over the hills or the moment someone almost makes it through the mud without getting stuck, these are the moments you’ll talk about for years.

Join the Adventure with All Terrain UK

At All Terrain UK, we believe that green laning should be fun, safe, and sustainable. Our community brings together like-minded off-roaders who love to explore while respecting the countryside. Whether you’re a seasoned driver or just getting started, there’s a place for you in our growing family.
